Théâtrophone is an invitation to see what you hear and listen to what you see.
Simultaneously a nugget of history, a discombobulated narrative, a musical road movie and a poetic snapshot, Théâtrophone is a magic lantern for the ears.
Four playful ins-and-outs; four sound pictures for consumption in no particular order evoke a particular time and its atmosphere, reviving forgotten machines and techniques. 1900, 1960, 1970, 1980: four slices of sound life, where the ultimate goal is to capture the essence of each through a final recording.
An immersion in a world where sound recordings become visual and alive, and their success a source of angst.
And above all, why do we seek to leave evidence of our passing on this Earth?
